How we handle your interview

We're a small software start-up at the research stage. We're learning how commercial mechanical, plumbing and electrical contractors and custom machinery builders run their businesses before we decide what software, if any, to build. Your input shapes what we build. The conversation is research, not a sales call, and you're under no obligation. If we later build something that could fit your business, we may ask whether you'd like to see it; you can say no, and we won't contact you again if you ask us not to.

Your name, role, company, contact details, and what you tell us in the conversation. With your OK, we also keep an audio/video recording and transcript. If you choose to share business documents, they are covered separately by our Mutual NDA and Data Handling Note.

For research interviews, we'll ask before recording, and you can say no or ask us to stop at any time. Short introductory phone calls may be recorded so we can improve how we call; those recordings are only used internally and are deleted within 7 days. Recordings are transcribed by a transcription service we use under contract, and transcripts are summarized with an AI model (Claude, by Anthropic) under commercial terms that do not allow your data to be used to train models. No automated decisions are made about you.

Our legitimate interest in understanding customer needs. For interview recording, your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. For introductory-call recordings, our legitimate interest in improving how we call.

Only our founder. Our service providers (cloud storage and email from Google, a transcription service, and Anthropic) process it for us under contract. We don't sell or share it with anyone else. Any quote we use outside the company is anonymized and needs your written OK.

We may share aggregated, anonymized findings from across all interviews with others (for example, the summary we send to participating owners). We never share your individual answers, your name or your company's name, and never share any documents you send us; documents stay private under the Mutual NDA.

Encrypted cloud storage in the United States. For UK/EU participants, transfers rely on the UK–US Data Bridge or EU–US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified, or on standard contractual clauses.

Recordings are deleted within 90 days. Anonymized notes are kept for up to 24 months while we develop the product. Your contact details are kept until you ask us to remove them.

You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, object to its use, or withdraw consent. Email varindra@useikon.com; we'll respond within 30 days. UK participants can complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk); Irish/EU participants can complain to the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie) or their local authority.

This site has no forms, no analytics and no tracking cookies. If you email us, we use your message only to reply. Links to other sites (such as LinkedIn or our data source) take you to those sites, which have their own privacy policies.
